Hey everyone,
If you’ve noticed my absence over the past nine months—first of all, thank you for caring enough to wonder! The truth is, life has been a beautiful, chaotic whirlwind, and while I’ve missed updating any progress with my bikes with all of you, sometimes stepping away from the bikes and tools was all it took to reset!
The Holiday Hustle (And the Aftermath)
When I last updated, we were easing into the holiday season—what I thought would be a short break turned into a full immersion into family time. Between Halloween, Christmas with the shopping, and New Year’s celebrations, the weeks just blurred together. I had every intention of squeezing in an update or two, but between baking disasters (why does gingerbread always crumble at the worst time?), last-minute gift wrapping, and just soaking in the joy (and occasional chaos) of the season, the updates took a backseat.
And then, just like that—January arrived. The decorations came down, the leftovers were finally finished, and I thought, Okay, now I’ll get back to it. But life had other plans.
January, off toMalaysia
This was planned for a while, but regardless of how much was planned there is always something amiss. In January 2025, my family and I packed our bags and headed to Malaysia for a 3 week trip. If you’ve ever traveled with kids (especially kids under 5), you know it’s equal parts exciting and exhausting. We explored the vibrant streets of Kuala Lumpur, indulged in way too much nasi lemak, and spent lazy afternoons on Langkawi’s stunning beaches. My intentions were to focus on the bikes, and the bike culture there. And while I did capture a lot of it, it wasn’t enough, and kids took a priority in this.
There were moments I thought, I should write about this—the way the humidity hit us the second we stepped off the plane, the hilarious struggle of convincing a toddler that durian is not the enemy, or the quiet awe of watching the sunset over the Andaman Sea. But between navigating jet lag, keeping tiny humans entertained, and just being present, any update felt impossible. And honestly? I don’t regret it. Some experiences are meant to be lived, not documented—at least not right away.
I do have a lot to share though, so expect something moving forward.
The Beautiful Chaos of Fatherhood
The biggest reason for my absence? Fatherhood of two kids under 5. Between daycare runs, bathtime, bedtime stories, and the endless cycle of arguing with a toddler, finding time to wrench and update has been a challenge. There are days when I finally sit down at my laptop after the kids are asleep… only to realize I’m too exhausted to string two coherent sentences together. So I tend to consume, and mindlessly binge on Youtube! Next thing I know, it’s bed time, and the cycle then repeats the next day.
Parenting doesn’t come with a pause button, and while I want to head down to my shop and wrench a little bit, my family will always be my first priority. Some seasons are for hustling, and others are for simply being there—laughing at poorly-timed knock-knock jokes, helping with homework, or just sitting on the floor building Lego towers that will inevitably topple over.
Grateful for Your Patience—And Excited for What’s Next
I’ve sourced a new supplier for replacement C70 carburetors, and they’re fairly good in regards to their performance. Motorcycle socials are here, now that it’s spring, and I’m finding time to fire up the streetcub to head out for those. And after the kids are off to bed, I am finding a little time to wrench on the C65, and the Honda Wave. However not enough to make a decent dent in their rebuild status.
If you’ve been through a similar season of juggling responsibilities, travel, or just life getting in the way, I’d love to hear from you. How do you find balance when everything feels like it’s moving at warp speed?
Here’s to more stories, fewer long gaps between posts, and the messy, wonderful adventure of it all.
